Regulator adds to compliance staff

The Charity Commission has increased staff numbers in its compliance division by 50 per cent over the past three years - despite being forced to reduce its total staffing by 20 per cent during that period.

The figures are included in the commission's three-year strategic plan, which is published today. The document says the increase reflects the importance the commission attaches to "resolving problems where charities, their assets or their beneficiaries are at risk".
