Trust hits 50,000 volunteer mark

The National Trust now has more than 50,000 volunteers, according to new figures released by the charity. The volunteers give more than three million hours of their time each year, and their work is worth more than £20m, the charity said.
The number has been boosted by increasing numbers of groups volunteering, the charity said. This includes employer-supported volunteering and groups linked to the Duke of Edinburgh award.
