Richard Hammond backs the Children's Trust's new website

- The Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond has given his backing to a new website to support families of children with acquired brain injury. The site, called the Brain Injury Hub, has been created by the Children's Trust, Tadworth, which runs a rehabilitation centre for children with acquired brain injury. Hammond, who suffered a brain injury in a car crash in 2006, is a vice-president of the charity. "The Brain Injury Hub will give families the information they need and a forum in which to share their experiences," he said.

- The adventurer Ben Fogle and Princess Eugenie joined the 3,000 people who took part in the Nightrider overnight cycle challenge through London on 9 June, which raised money for 250 charities. Fogle raised funds for WWF and Princess Eugenie was supporting the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Appeal and the MCC Foundation.

- The singer and Steps member Lee Latchford Evans (right with Diabetes UK chief executive Baroness Barbara Young), supported a successful attempt by Diabetes UK to break the world record for the number of people having their waist measured in a single eight-hour period. Latchford Evans was one of 556 people to have their waists measured in London last week, to promote the message that having a large waist increases the risk of type 2 diabetes.

- The Duchess of Cornwall has agreed to become president of the type 1 juvenile diabetes charity the JDRF for the next five years.

- The former EastEnders actor Cheryl Fergison, who played Heather Trott, presented an Albert Square street plaque signed by members of the cast to the children's charity Brainwave. The plaque will be auctioned to raise money for the charity at a dinner to mark its 30th anniversary in October.

- The former Wales rugby union player Scott Quinnell took part in a cookery lesson with service users from the homelessness charity Llamau at its training centre in south Wales earlier this month.
