Chief executive David Tyler says even small voluntary organisations need to become more businesslike

A new free tool to help charities with business planning has been launched by Community Matters, the national federation for community organisations.

Can You Plan It? is intended to make business planning more approachable, participatory and enjoyable, Community Matters said in a statement to accompany the launch.

The tool is designed to function like a game and is intended to be accessible to all trustees, staff and service users, including young people, according to Community Matters.

David Tyler, chief executive of Community Matters, said: "Even very small community and voluntary organisations are now finding that they need to become more businesslike and competitive to survive in the current climate. Community Matters is committed to providing a comprehensive set of tools to help them get there."
