- The former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne and her daughter Kelly, the TV presenter and singer, have given their backing to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer 2013, which raises funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer through the sale of products at clothing retailers including Marks & Spencer, River Island, Topshop and Debenhams. They will appear in adverts for the campaign as one of two mother-and-daughter pairings; the other one is the fashion designer Pearl Lowe and her daughter Daisy, who is a model.

- The Duchess of Cambridge has agreed to become patron of the charities Place2Be, which provides counselling for children in schools, SportsAid, which supports aspiring young sportsmen and women, and the Natural History Museum.

- The actor and comedian James Corden was the guest of honour at a fundraising dinner for the social care charity The Fed, which supports members of the Jewish community in north and south Manchester. The star of Gavin & Stacey, who took part in a question-and-answer session on the night, said: "I was only too happy to help a charity like The Fed, which is helping those in need. My mum and sister are both social workers, so I'm well aware of the struggles that the charity faces."

- The actor Emilia Fox has agreed to become an ambassador for the Lullaby Trust, formerly the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths, which supports bereaved families and raises awareness on sudden infant death syndrome.

Kirk Douglas- The actor Kirk Douglas (right) has given his backing to the Stroke Association's annual Action on Stroke Month, which takes place in May. Douglas, 96, who had a stroke in 1996, said: "As a survivor, you learn that there is life after a stroke."
