Leaders network urges charities to join its call for financial reform
Euclid, the network of European third sector leaders, is urging voluntary organisations to sign an open letter to Jose Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission, urging him to accept its recommendations on financial reform.
Last year, Euclid responded to an invitation from the commission to take part in its consultation on reforming its financial regulations, which govern the way the European Union distributes grants and contracts.
Euclid's recommendations include abolishing the non-profit rule that prevents sector organisations from keeping surpluses from EU funds.
The commission released its summary of responses in March. But Euclid's letter to Barroso says the summary does not show how the commission will use the results, as required by the EU's code of good practice.
