Nat Sloane of the Big Lottery Fund England says domestic violence prevention projects should help young men develop good relationships
The Big Lottery Fund today awarded £7m to 35 organisations in the latest round of funding from its Reaching Communities grants programme.
Reaching Communities is a £130m programme that provides revenue and capital grants of between £10,000 and £500,000 to organisations in England’s most deprived areas.
Five organisations received more than £400,000 each in the latest round of funding.
They were Gascoyne and Morningside Youth Clubs in the London borough of Hackney, the young people’s community group Headland Future in Hartlepool, Salford Unemployed and Community Resource Centre, the North Staffordshire domestic violence charity Arch and Voluntary Action Rotherham.
Domestic violence charities feature prominently in the awards.
Nat Sloane, chair of the Big Lottery Fund England, said the awards would help organisations prevent problems from happening, "starting with young men by helping them to understand and benefit from good relationships rather than abusive ones".
