New learning academy will offer training to people at all stages of their career
A new four-tiered fundraising qualification framework will be the centrepiece of the Institute of Fundraising's new learning academy, which opened this week.
The academy will offer training to people at all stages of their career, from assistant fundraiser to senior director of fundraising. It will also train fundraisers in softer skills, such as how to build trust, and teach technique-specific courses in areas such as fundraising through new technology.
Paul Marvell, director of learning at the institute, said training would be delivered by recognised specialists in each field.
He added that the new framework of four qualifications had replaced the IoF's fundraising management certificate and was "significantly cheaper" than its predecessor.
The academy's launch coincides with the arrival of the institute's new chief executive, Amanda McLean.
McLean said there had never been a more important time for fundraising organisations to invest in training and qualifications.
"The increased requirement for voluntary funds in charities suffering from cutbacks in public funds and contracts will mean that any skills gaps are exposed," she said.
