Chief executive Peter Lewis says the new posts, mainly in policy and research, are being created in response to demand from members

The Institute of Fundraising has created seven new jobs as part of a restructure to focus on policy and research.

Peter Lewis, chief executive of the institute, said the overhaul, which comes in response to a consultation with members about strategy that took place at the beginning of the year, will also involve new investment in events.

As well as four roles in policy, research and marketing that are currently being advertised, the IoF will also be hiring a fundraiser to apply for more statutory and trust funding, said Lewis. Two further jobs in training and events are soon to be advertised.

He said no jobs were being lost and the changes would increase the IoF’s total staff from 39 to 46.

"Lots of organisations are suffering from the public sector spending cuts, but they are investing in fundraising," he said. "Demand for training is growing, so putting on more training and events will enable us to grow the rest of our business."

Louise Richards, director of policy and campaigns at the IoF, said that she would leave her role at the end of this week. She said her job was not being made redundant.

"I saw an opportunity with the refocus to take a little break and look to pursue something different," she said.

Simon Morrison, the IoF’s director of marketing and communications, will act as interim director of policy and communications, which is one of the new senior roles.
