TeamPB, formed by two cancer charities
Prostate Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care formed TeamPB when made official charity partners of 2012 London Marathon
The official charity partners of this year’s London Marathon will share more than £1m in sponsorship.
The Prostate Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care were chosen as the annual race’s joint charity partners for the 2012 event. They raised £1,046,776 between them, which will be split equally between the charities.
The money will be used to fund a range of services and projects to support the estimated 750,000 people affected by the two types of cancer.
A total of 830 runners completed the run in April on behalf of TeamPB, the joint team formed by the two organisations.
Owen Sharp, chief executive of the Prostate Cancer Charity, said: "Both charities have seen huge value in the TeamPB partnership, which is why we want to continue working together on a number of legacy events and programmes."
Samia al Qadhi, chief executive of Breast Cancer Care, said: "It is no mean feat completing a marathon, but speaking to some of our TeamPB runners at the post-event reception and hearing how cancer has affected their lives, I was touched by their commitment to support what the two charities are trying to achieve."
The TeamPB partnership was backed by celebrities including the actress Amanda Mealing, the DJ Neil Fox and the actor Damian Lewis.
