The charity has acted after a newspaper investigation revealed alleged breaches of fundraising rules by Tag
Oxfam has suspended using the face-to-face fundraising agency Tag Campaigns after a Sunday Telegraph investigation revealed several potential breaches of the Institute of Fundraising’s code of practice.
The Fundraising Standards Board launched an investigation into Tag last week after undercover reporting by the newspaper revealed that the agency’s street fundraisers potentially broke a number of rules.
Oxfam said in a statement that it had "currently suspended fundraising with Tag" and "was working with it to try to address the issues revealed by The Sunday Telegraph as a matter of priority".
Oxfam said in the statement that the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association will be reviewing Tag’s training practices and that Oxfam will make a decision whether to use the agency again based on the outcomes of that review.
Other charities have said they will not work with Tag again until they are satisfied with its standards.
The WWF has said its current contract with Tag is about to come to an end, and it will await the result of the FRSB investigation before using Tag again. It said that Tag’s current training practices had "failed to prevent some clear instances where fundraisers’ behaviour has not been in line with what we would expect".
The RSPCA has said that it would carry out a full review of Tag and its training practices before considering using it again.
