Amount given to charity from wills totalled £1.8bn in the UK in 2011, with CRUK receiving £148.9m, according to research by the Charities Aid Foundation
CRUK consistently tops league tables of legacy giving and received £148.9m in 2011 based on CAF’s analysis of accounts logged with the Charity Commission.
A spokesman for CAF said legacy giving totals did not change that much and, in 2007, the figure was £1.7bn.
Data from the Charity Market Monitor report by the Cass Business School, based on the 2007/08 fundraising income of the UK’s top 300 charities, found that CRUK was the highest earner of legacy income, receiving £147.8m. The RNLI came next in this report on £94.5m and the RSPCA was third with £63.1m.
