A free guide to help prime providers and subcontractors build better relationships in welfare-to-work programmes has been launched today by the chief executives body Acevo, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations and Ersa, the trade association for the welfare-to-work sector.

The guide, called Perfect Partners, contains a checklist for potential subcontractors to use before becoming part of a supply chain. It mentions the need to carry out proper due diligence and includes a number of rules for prime contractors to follow to get the best out of their suppliers.

It also includes a collection of case studies from organisations to give some idea of best practice.

Kirsty McHugh, chief executive of Ersa, said: "While many relationships between primes and subcontractors are thriving, others threaten divorce. It is essential that we highlight what’s going well and help others build stronger relationships. All partners can play a part – primes, subcontractors and commissioners."
