Data protection: To share or not to share? That is the question
Charities help vulnerable people. But how do they decide what information about those people to pass to other agencies without infringing the law? And what happens when other agencies fail to share information about the people they want charities to provide services for? Emily Ford finds out.
Partnership breaks all expectations

Partnership breaks all expectations
A fundraising partnership between Leukaemia Research and Argos has doubled its original target of £400,000 to raise £800,000 for the charity.
The retailer and the charity teamed up for in-store fundraising events and collection days. Customers were given the option of adding a 20p donation to any items bought from the chain of shops.
Funds raised during the year-long Saving and Improving Lives Together appeal will support a new database that will store symptoms and treatments of different blood cancers. Argos's new partner for 2008/09 will be the British Heart Foundation.
In a separate corporate partnership, Marie Curie Cancer Care is set to receive £1.55m after its two-year partnership with DIY store chain Homebase concluded. The amount tripled the original fundraising target of £500,000. The money will fund 77,500 hours of home-nursing care.
