Christian Aid launches Spanish sister charity InspirAction

Charity hopes to tap into 'emerging fundraising market'
International relief agency Christian Aid has launched a Spanish sister charity as a step towards improving its ability to campaign worldwide.
The new charity, InspirAction, will be registered as a Spanish foundation and will be run by a Madrid-based team.
InspirAction will focus on spreading Christian Aid's message on climate change, tax and development funding in the world's poorest countries. It will not use the name Christian Aid after research suggested that Spanish people thought of themselves as Catholic rather than simply Christian.
Matthew Reed, marketing director at Christian Aid, said Spain was an emerging fundraising market and there was potential to raise government and private funds, particularly to support the charity's projects in Latin America.
"We are launching InspirAction in Spain because historically there is a strong sense of social solidarity among the Spanish people that we feel can be harnessed," he said.
