Our Lasting Tribute has been bought by Valldata
Service was sold after its owner Whitewater went into liquidation last month
The charity direct marketing firm Valldata has bought the in-memoriam website service Our Lasting Tribute following the liquidation of its owner Whitewater.
Valldata said last week that its offer for the service had been accepted subject to contract.
About 35 charities use Our Lasting Tribute to help their supporters build in-memoriam fundraising pages and collect donations from the pages.
The service was sold after the charity direct marketing specialist Whitewater went into liquidation last month owing £4.2m.
Nobody at Valldata was available to confirm how much it paid for the service.
In a statement, Hamish Horton, chief executive of Valldata, said he hoped to complete the legal process for the sale "in a matter of days".
"We look forward to building on these key relationships in the coming days and weeks, and developing the product for many years to come," he said.
Martin Smith, chief executive of Whitewater’s parent company Involve Marketing Partnership, said: "It is fantastic that Our Lasting Tribute will have such a responsible and knowledgeable new owner as Valldata. It almost uniquely understands the technological issues involved and the charity sector that Our Lasting Tribute operates in."
Charities that used Our Lasting Tribute were keen to know how much they would have to pay for the service after the sale and that the donors who had set up in-memoriam pages would continue to receive the same service. One charity, which already works with Valldata, said: "We are happy with this development. We are very hopeful it all works out."
