Software to measure operational targets

By David Ainsworth, Third Sector, 30 July 2008

A firm of third sector software specialists is designing a programme that will allow charities to calculate whether they are hitting their operational targets.

The tool, originally developed for nursing homes by COA Solutions, is being broadened to meet the needs of other charity users.

"The system offers an instant graphical display of a range of indicators," said Grahame Marsden, not-for-profit manager at COA. "Directors can press a single button and bring up a range of indicators and predictions.

"We've used it to measure factors such as bed occupancy, utilisation of temporary staff and absence periods," he said. "But it can be used to calculate many different factors - for example, anyone with a government contract can tell at a glance how they're measuring up against their delivery targets."
