The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales will hold its northern and southern annual charity conferences in November.
- The events take place in the Riverbank Park Plaza in London on 10 November and the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds on 13 November. Delegates will hear from the third sector minister and from Rosie Chapman, executive director of policy and effectiveness at the Charity Commission. For more information, see www.icaew.com.
- A seminar looking at the challenges facing faith-based charities is being run by social banking specialist Triodos Bank, in partnership with law firm Jordans and accountancy firm Burton Sweet. - Newton Investment Management is holding a half-day investment seminar for charities at the Royal College of Surgeons in London on 22 October. The speakers, including Jasmine Whitbread, chief executive of Save the Children UK, will talk about the strategic choices charities need to make as they move forward. - The Charity Finance Directors' Group has broadly welcomed HM Revenue & Customs plans to simplify the VAT partial exemption and capital goods scheme rules. HMRC said charities would benefit by having to make few calculations.
