Acevo asks Jowell for 50/50 split in lottery distribution

Acevo chief executive Stephen Bubb has written to culture secretary Tessa Jowell to call for the independent funding stream for charities to be enlarged in any merged lottery distributor.

Acevo wants the Government to agree to a 50/50 split between the current good-cause money from the New Opportunities Fund (NOF) and the Community Fund (CF). "Equal amounts should go the sector generally and to government priority programmes," wrote Bubb.

Acevo's call was supported by the Community Fund. Chairwoman Diana Brittan said: "The voluntary sector's views will be important in helping to form a brand new lottery distributor. If Acevo says its members want a 50/50 split between current good cause money from both NOF and CF we will support that."

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport last week agreed to a 12-week consultation with the sector on the proposed merger of the two lottery distributors.
