Acevo to forge closer culture links with ministers

Acevo plans to form closer links with the Government over art and culture after a meeting with culture minister Margaret Hodge.

The chief executives body will hold a seminar for its members working in the area to define how the third sector can help achieve excellence in the arts.

“Close dialogue between ministers and third sector leaders has never been more important than it is now,” said Peter Pearce, director of building conservation charity the Landmark Trust, who is also chair of Acevo’s arts, culture and heritage special interest group. “We welcome the minister’s interest and trust that this will be the start of a continuing and deepening discussion.”

Hodge described the Acevo meeting as a “very useful and helpful forum”.
