Acevo helps form 'Italian DEC' body

Chief executives' body Acevo is advising on the creation of an 'Italian Disasters Emergency Committee'.

The umbrella body's international division convened a meeting of 11 Italian aid agencies in Rome at the end of July.

Brendan Gormley, chief executive of the DEC in Britain, and Manuela Rossback, the head of the German version of the DEC, Aktion Deutschland Hilft, also attended.

Acevo is not being paid a consultancy fee for its involvement. Filippo Addarri, head of its international programme, said the role fulfilled Acevo's aim to transfer knowledge across borders.

"The British and German examples have demonstrated the value of co-operation and coalition when dealing with emergencies," he said. "We are delighted and honoured to be facilitating this committee."
