Amnesty releases 'sleep walk' film on 42-day plan

Amnesty International will release a film this week in protest at the Government's now shelved plans to detain terror suspects without charge for up to 42 days.

The film follows a mass 'sleep walk' event in which protesters walked through the streets of Leeds with dressing gowns, pillows and blankets to highlight Amnesty's belief that the UK was "sleepwalking into an assault on our human rights".

The Government abandoned the proposals after it was defeated in the House of Lords by 191 votes yesterday.
