Finance: Church income will fall

Church income will fall by £7.7m because of next year's reduction in the basic rate of income tax. The figure was given in a response to a parliamentary question by Robert Key, Conservative MP for Salisbury. Answering on behalf of the Church Commisisoners, Stuart Bell, the Labour MP for Middlesbrough, said he welcomed the Chancellor's promise to consult the sector about increasing the take-up of Gift Aid.
