Living doll

This sculpture, entitled Rag Doll, was a runner-up in an art competition that raised £14,000 for Samaritans. The self-portrait, by Loughborough University fine art student Wendy Mayer, scooped one of the £1,000 runner-up prizes in the first The Grieve + Samaritans Art Prize, sponsored by the Alan and Karen Grieve Charitable Trust. "My recent work has been inspired by a psychological report on a woman in her 40s who acts and dresses like a child and who wishes she were a doll," said Mayer.
