Bank gives Norcare staff personal finance lessons

Lloyds TSB has given charity employees free lessons in personal finance to ease the effects of the credit crunch.

Employees of Newcastle-based housing charity Norcare received advice on budgeting, mortgages and pensions in workshops held at Norcare's offices on Friday.

Deirdre Pearson, finance director at the charity, asked the bank for help because she was worried that staff would struggle financially during the credit crunch. Norcare banks with Lloyds.

A spokesman for the bank said the lessons would not focus on promoting Lloyds TSB products.

Stephen Hancock, corporate personal banking manager at Lloyds TSB, said: "This is an excellent example of a caring employer thinking beyond the conditions it provides for staff at work and showing an understanding that companies can support their employees at home as well as in the workplace."
