Bates Wells & Braithwaite tops Legal 500's rankings of charity law firms

Farrer & Co comes second in London-dominated list of 35 sector specialists

Law firm Bates Wells & Braithwaite has topped a list of the 35 leading national firms dealing with charity law.

The list forms part of the Legal 500, a document published annually by legal publisher Legalease.

Farrer & Co came second in the list, and Bircham Dyson Bell and Withers came joint third.

The rankings were based on written submissions by the firms and interviews with their staff and clients. The judging was carried out by a panel of journalists and researchers working for Legalease.

All of the 35 firms in the list are based in London, apart from Birmingham-based Anthony Collins.

The report explaining the rankings says Bates Wells & Braithwaite is "widely renowned for its sizeable charities practice, and includes a number of highly respected practitioners".
