Park lover John Rhodes took the image, which is being shown alongside other entries at London's Mile End Arts Pavilion until tomorrow.

The exhibition then moves to Birkenhead Park, Wirral, from 17 October to 4 November.

The competition was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Big Lottery Fund as part of their joint Parks for People scheme, set up to invest £160m in regenerating public parks over three years.

Paul Bramhill, chief executive of GreenSpace, said: "A recent survey found that 83 per cent of people believe parks and green spaces are a focal point for communities. The wonderful photographs in this competition illustrate exactly why we love them so much."
