CAA consultation document published

Watchdogs have published the latest consultation document on the Comprehensive Area Assessment.

The document on the new system for assessing local public services, due to be launched in April 2009, seeks opinions on proposed Area Assessments and Organisational Assessments.

The CAA will bring together the work of seven inspectorates: the Audit Commission, the Commission for Social Care Inspection, the Healthcare Commission, HM Inspectorate of Constabulary, HM Inspector of Prisons, HM Inspectorate of Probation and education watchdog Ofsted.

The aim of teh CAA is to enable people to hold elected representatives and public bodies to account. It will cover a range of issues, including the local economy, affordable housing and children’s wellbeing.

The consultation period runs until 20 October.
