CAF appoints new communications director

The Charities Aid Foundation has appointed former journalist Mark Webster as its new director of communications.

Webster, who has spent most of his career as a print and broadcast journalist, was most recently senior spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats. He will take charge of CAF’s communications strategy, media relations, research, policy and events from next month.

He succeeds Andrew Jones, who left the foundation in November. Jones was one of several directors to leave CAF in the past two years. Former chief executive Stephen Ainger was succeeded by John Low, who joined from the RNID, in August last year.

“I am excited to be joining CAF at a time when the organisation is going through changes and expanding,” said Webster. “Having worked around the world covering politics, economics and conflicts, I am very aware of the crucial role that charities play.”
