Capacitybuilders in mediation offer

Capacitybuilders has agreed to fund an independent mediator to broker an agreement between five councils for voluntary service on the Wirral after merger talks between them foundered.

The funding body has offered to provide almost £3,000 to pay for independent mediation between Bevington, Heswall and District, Hoylake and District and Wallasey CVSs and Wirral CVS, which pulled out last year because of dissatisfaction with the process (Third Sector, 12 December 2007).

The four CVSs were due to become Voluntary and Community Action Wirral on 1 April.

Annette Roberts, chief executive of VCAW, and Angela Green, acting chief officer of Wirral CVS, said they were pleased the mediation would be taking place.
