Carl Watt has been appointed to the role of director at Stonewall Scotland

He replaces Calum Irving, who is the new head of campaigns and advocacy at Manchester-based health campaign Our Life. "Anyone moving out of one sector into another has to consider why," said Watt. "That period of contemplation is where I began to convince myself of what I had to offer to this new role and the advancements in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality." He said he hoped "my skills will create new public and private sector partnerships and, more importantly, benefit Scotland's LGBT community, friends, families and wider public."
