Cash on offer for 'hard to reach' bodies

Organisations with experience of providing infrastructure support for front-line bodies working with 'hard-to-reach' groups are being invited to apply for a new £6m pilot programme from Capacitybuilders called Improving Reach.

The programme aims to help organisations that may not have been reached by earlier ChangeUp programmes, including black and minority ethnic groups, refugee and migrant groups, faith groups and rural groups.

Capacitybuilders said competition was expected to be high and that between 50 and 80 organisations across England were likely to receive awards.

The closing date to apply is 10 October.

The pilot will run until March 2008, but Capacitybuilders chief executive Simon Hebditch said he hoped its scope would be extended in future years.

Third sector Minister Ed Miliband said the investment was targeted at organisations working with disadvantaged and marginalised communities.
