CFDG announces merger
By David Ainsworth, Third Sector Online, 2 September 2008
The Charity Finance Directors' Group is to merge with sector collaborative procurement organisation the Charities Consortium.
The Charities Consortium will be reconstituted as CFDG's Large Charities Special Interest Group. It will continue to work with its development groups for IT, insurance and procurement professionals in the sector.
"This merger puts it in a position where it can thrive in the future," said Les Jones, director of the Charities Consortium. "Combined with CFDG, the Consortium will be within an organisation with a strong brand and a recognised presence in the sector."
The two organisations already have a joint chair in Charles Nall, corporate services director of the Children's Society.
"I have witnessed a shared desire amongst executives and boards to create one integrated voice to speak for the sector on finance and effectiveness," he said. "That one voice naturally sits in CFDG."
