Oxford Brookes University Business School is to pilot a new service in which accounting students will offer free financial services to charities around Oxfordshire. Under the project, developed with Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action and chartered accountancy firm Critchleys, students will work with local organisations for half a day a week for a year, doing work such as budgeting, record keeping and bank reconciliations.
The Charity Finance Directors' Group is holding its annual survey on salaries and benefits in the third sector. It will provide an insight into how charity salaries and recruitment practices have changed during the recession.
The Social Entrepreneurs Fund and the Millennium Awards Trust have given grants totalling £100,000 to social entrepreneurs in Scotland. The funds, which make regular awards through a joint application process, made grants worth between £900 and £20,000. For more information about future grants, visit www.firstport.org.uk.
