Charity Bank appoints Wales director

Ian Courtney takes over at Cardiff office

Charity Bank has expanded its regional operation in Wales with the appointment of a full-time regional director.

Ian Courtney, who used to work in PR, recently took up the reins at the organisation's Cardiff office. He said he wanted to raise the lender's profile in the principality.

"One of my first priorities is to promote the name of the organisation," he said. "Another is to talk to public policy-makers and community funders to see how we can work together. A third is to appoint an advisory board to oversee our operations."

He said that the time was right to expand the bank's presence in Wales.

"Banking has had a strong history of localism and ethical behaviour," he said. "It's an idea whose time has come again.

"Many people and organisations are looking to invest in an organisation that is safe and offers an opportunity to meet social needs."
