A chinwag with the new charities minister

New Minister for the Third Sector Kevin Brennan spoke with young journalists about whether it was right for the government to 'bail out' the banks, how government grants are allocated and what his former job as a teacher was like.

In his first public appearance in his new role this week,  Brennan visited the offices of Livity, the youth marketing agency and social enterprise that funds Live magazine, a periodical written by young people for young people, on Tuesday.

"All the young people I've spoken to are interested in politics, because they have opinions and want to change things," he said. "What puts them off is traditional party politics, the process of politics, which is all you ever hear about. But they would like to change the world, and that's what politics is."
