Cliff Prior joins Big Society Capital

Cliff Prior will join Big Society Capital as chief executive in March, taking over from Nick O'Donohoe, who is joining the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Prior is chief executive of UnLtd.

Hilary Cross, former director of marketing and communications at Macmillan Cancer Support, is to join the British Council in January as director of strategy and engagement.

The Maudsley Charity, which funds mental health projects and research, has hired Rebecca Gray as chief executive. Gray, who is director of communications and information at the King's Fund, is expected to join in January.

Tree of Hope, which supports sick and disabled children and their families, has hired Gill Gibb as chief executive. Gibb is currently managing director of the consultancy Gill Gibb & Associates and is treasurer at Centrepoint.

The League Against Cruel Sports has recruited Eduardo Goncalves as chief executive. Goncalves is currently the international communications director at greenhouse gas reduction NGO The Climate Group.

Andrew Webb has joined the volunteering charity VSO as business development director. He has worked for more than 20 years in international development, most recently as chief executive of the anti-poverty charity SolarAid.

Gingerbread, a charity for single-parent families, has recruited Dalia Ben-Galim as director of policy. She joins from the Institute of Public Policy Research, where she was an associate director.

The environment charity ClientEarth has appointed Tim Reid as director of communications. Reid was formerly a political correspondent for the BBC.

The Essex Community Foundation has promoted Caroline Taylor from deputy chief executive to chief executive. Taylor takes over on 1 January from Bob Reitemeier.

The Prison Advice and Care Trust has promoted Tina Parker from contracts manager to director of services. She succeeds Katie Morgan, who is new chief executive of Stepping Stones, a charity for abused women.

Ruth Ruderham is joining the new international arm of the youth employment charity the Prince's Trust. Ruderham, the fundraising director at the Canal & River Trust, will take up the same role at Prince's Trust International.

Cancer Research UK has made Nick Gaynor co-executive director of philanthropic partnerships. He was an investment banker.
