Coalition formed to oppose Asbos

A new coalition of organisations from the public and voluntary sectors has been formed to campaign for more alternatives to anti-social behaviour orders in the fight against crime.

Voluntary sector organisations that have joined the new alliance, Positive Approaches, include Mediation UK, the Howard League, the Runnymede Trust and Revolving Doors. The National Housing Federation, the National Association of Probation Officers and the National Community Safety Network are also members.

Andy Mills, anti-social behaviour lead for the National Community Safety Network, said: "We are keen to see the development of a range of responses to anti-social behaviour that will produce long-term as well as short-term solutions."
