The Government should commit to ending pensioner poverty as it has for child poverty, Help the Aged has said.
Launched at the beginning of March, Help the Aged's Stop Pensioner Poverty Now campaign will be pursued through government lobbying and media work.
Help the Aged wants the Government to set achievable targets to ensure that pensioners claim the benefits that they are entitled to.
A photojournalist will create a photo-essay to illustrate the contrast between the lives of the richest and poorest pensioners. Research will also be carried out to demonstrate the reality of the inequalities faced by older people.
The campaign is envisaged to be long term. A spokesman said: "We will adapt the campaign to circumstances as required in the future."
