COMMUNICATIONS NEWS: Macmillan cancer awards recognise parliamentarians

Dr Ian Gibson MP, chairman of the all-party parliamentary cancer group, has been labelled a 'Macmillan Champion' in recognition of the work he has done to support the charity's political campaigns.

"The awards recognise the difference we are making in partnership with MPs and corporate partners," said a Macmillan spokesperson.

MPs Chris Pond, Julie Kirkbride and Don Foster also received 'Macmillan Champion' awards.

Lord Clement-Jones received an award recognising his work to improve access to information and care for people living with cancer.

This is the first year Macmillan has run the profile-raising awards, which aim to thank parliamentarians for their support of the charity.

The awards were presented on Thursday by BBC Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine.
