COMMUNICATIONS NEWS: NCVO guide advises on putting diversity policies into action

New discrimination legislation has prompted NCVO to launch a guide to help voluntary organisations encourage and support diversity in the workplace.

Making Diversity Happen! offers practical advice on how to implement a diversity policy within voluntary and community organisations, and suggests strategies and action plans for charities to follow.

Supported by the Community Fund, the guide also includes checklists, case studies and current diversity policies from several voluntary organisations.

NCVO launched the report after the Government introduced new measures into legislation, including the Disability Discrimination Act which aims to protect employees against discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation, religion or beliefs.
