The Prostate Cancer Charity is launching a five-year action plan ahead of next month's awareness week, as latest figures show the disease could affect one in 11 men.
The strategy aims to put the charity at the forefront of campaigning to improve the lives of people affected by the cancer.
'A Cause for Action' outlines how the charity will advance its goals in the areas of research, professional development, information provision, policy, regional development and campaigning.
Chief executive John Neate said: "Research spend will progressively increase year-on-year, topping £1m in 2004/5.
"Although significant prostate cancer research grants have been made by the charity, 'A Cause for Action' signals a very significant increase."
