COMMUNICATIONS NEWS: Seed project takes recycling message into the community

A waste awareness education programme is being launched in the north west, backed by a National Lottery grant of almost £47,000.

The Seed programme grant enables project officers to increase recycling education work within schools and community groups.

Under the scheme, the ACRE Waste Awareness and Recycling Education project will provide workshop activities, including schools-based recycling schemes.

The grant is the latest installment from the national £15.3m Social, Economic and Environmental Development Programme and targets schools and community groups in Rochdale, Oldham and North Manchester.

Seed, which is run by the Royal Society for Nature Conservation and 11 partners, has distributed £1.8m in the area to 55 projects.
