COMMUNICATIONS NEWS: WORLD AIDS DAY - FPA prints book for young people with learning disabilities

Sexual health charity FPA has published its first guide for young people with learning disabilities.

Talking Together... about sex and relationships covers subjects such as contraception, safe sex, privacy and dealing with parents' reactions.

The authors say it is aimed at 13-19 year-olds and is suitable for people with any level of learning disability.

The book follows the story of a relationship between Tom and Debbie, who have learning disabilities. "Many people with learning difficulties have problems with language," said Lorna Scott, one of the book's co-authors.

"The book is very visual, and uses active learning methods such as drama.

Storytelling is an excellent way of getting information across to people with learning disabilities."

The book is available from FPA Direct on 01865 719418.
