CRUK selects Boots to replace Nivea as sun cream partner

Cancer Research UK has signed a sponsorship deal with Boots that will see the company replace Nivea as the sun cream sponsor of the charity's SunSmart campaign.

The deal will see the charity endorse Boots' range of sun creams, and work in partnership on a range of marketing and public education initiatives to increase awareness of skin cancer throughout 2004.

But Nivea for Men's sponsorship of CRUK's 'Cycle For Life' campaign will continue, despite reports in the marketing press last week that the Boots deal had prompted Beiersdorf, owner of the Nivea brand, to pull out of its other partnership deals.

"Far from our relationship with Nivea being terminated by Beiersdorf, it will be associate sponsor of CRUK's 'Race for Life 2004' for the second year running," said Gavin Coopey, development director at the charity.

"We will continue to work together as closely as ever to ensure a successful partnership."
