Dads' group sets up youth project

Fathers 4 Justice is setting up a charitable arm separate from its direct-action activities to work with young offenders from fatherless families.

The move follows its failure to find a voluntary sector partner to work with on a national fundraising event.

Matt O'Connor, the campaign group's founder, said he had been approached by numerous charities wanting to learn from the organisation's campaigning techniques, but none had been willing to become an official partner.

"We're not surprised by the wishy-washy response," he said. "Charities tiptoe around the issues and worry too much about saying the wrong thing, instead of telling it like it is."

Fathers 4 Justice will donate the proceeds from its planned fundraising event to a charity working with children from fatherless families.
