Downing Street bash for Compact

A reception at 11 Downing Street on 5 November will mark the 10th anniversary of the Compact.

The event will be held during Compact Week, which runs from 1 to 8 November. The Compact's birthday is on 12 November.

Finalists in the 2008 Compact Awards, which are organised by the Commission for the Compact, will join senior figures involved in the national Compact at the reception.

The awards include categories for local Compact of the year, regional and national excellence awards, Compact champion of the year and a commissioner's award. "The event will celebrate what has been achieved over the past 10 years," said a commission spokeswoman.

Conferences in Gloucester, Shrewsbury, Wirral, Harrogate and Uckfield will also be held during Compact Week, which has adopted the theme 'making the Compact a reality'.
