Durham network considers options

Local infrastructure organisations in County Durham have hired an academic to help them decide how they can best work together and whether to merge.

The One Voice Network, which represents councils for voluntary service and volunteer centres in the county, has secured money from Capacitybuilders to fund the work.

Rob Macmillan, research fellow at Sheffield Hallam University's Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research, will make recommendations to the organisations.

His final analysis could recommend options such as large-scale or local area mergers.

"We felt we needed someone neutral to do the work," said Michele Armstrong, the network's chair.
