Exits and Entrances: Cool Cats in Rhyl

Plus: Ladybirds, dragonflies and cabaret

Among the new kids on the charity block this month is the Cool Cats Club, a pre-school and daycare charity for the children of Rhyl, north Wales, and the eye-catchingly named Grace Kelly Ladybird Trust - not a niche club for fans of both the silver screen and brightly coloured beetles, but a childhood cancer charity.

But the nation's insects should not feel neglected, with the British Dragonfly Society buzzing its way onto the scene to educate the public about dragonflies and damselflies.

Also entering stage left with aplomb is Cabaret Vs Cancer, raising money for cancer research through performances and nude calendars. Let's hope it doesn't disturb fellow new charity Hope2Sleep, set up to combat sleep apnoea.

Making a covert exit this month is the CIA Charitable Trust, the alias of the Chemical Industries Association (a likely story). The youth arts charity Funforlife Ltd found its fun was indeed limited, while the Ragamuffins, a playgroup charity from Bere Regis in Dorset, decided to smarten itself up and the poverty-relief charity Lotus for Hope withered and left the register.
