FINANCE NEWS: Ashcourt expands charities team with asset appointment

Fund manager Ashcourt Asset Management has appointed a new asset manager as part of a drive to establish a dedicated charities team and recruit more charity clients.

Charlie Simkins has joined the company from Gerrard where he was a member of the Global Asset Allocation Committee. Simkins was previously director of Henderson Pension Fund Management and head of the North American Investment desk.

Ashcourt has a bank of charity clients but is planning to expand. Chief executive John Morton said: "This appointment is an important step forward in our expansion. His top-level experience, especially in terms of managing complicated portfolios for major institutional clients, will be a valuable addition to our growing capabilities."

Simkins said: "My understanding of clients needs particularly within a complex regulatory environment will further enhance Ashcourt's ability to deliver for clients."

Ashcourt was formed in 2000 by Morton and law firms Brachers and Wilsons.
